GWG artemis softshell jacket review
When it comes to jackets, I may or may not have a problem. This is one of the last jackets I need for my Girls with Guns Clothing Collection! So with that said, it’s review time!
If you havnt’t seen my channel before you may realize, that I may or may not have an obsession with girls with guns clothing…. And on top of that, I have an obsession with jackets. Thanks to GWG I have yet another jacket, but at least they are all different ones, well except I have double of a couple lol. When it comes to girls with guns, yes I do vier towards their gear but I do because I trust them as a company, as a brand that always has good gear that lasts, and they are made by women for women. I’m not saying Sitka, Kuiu, and anything else is not a good brand, it’s just not the brand for me since I know what I am getting when I buy GWG.
This doesn’t mean I won’t tell you guys the truth when it comes to the gear reviews. Yes sometimes I wish they were less price, but they are great prices for the amazing quality and how things always last. But by far out of all the GWG jackets. This one right here is my absolute favorite. I will be comparing the differences between this jacket and the other ones that GWG carries, to show just how much I like this one more than the others. So let’s get started!
Let’s start with the wrists. When it comes to the Summit jacket, that jacket has an underside of the jacket that sections HARD onto your writs. This makes it uncomfortable for me to wear my Garmin watch or my old Fitbit watch before that. Whereas the rain jacket, I can wear whatever I want underneath on my wrists or even a sweatshirt still, that one is “suctioned” to your wrist by the velcro. So yes that helps when it comes to having stuff on underneath, but I’m a person that really hates having velcro on their wrist, I always seem to undo it. But then there is the Highland jacket, I do not have this one yet, it’s actually next on my list (oh yes another jacket I do have a problem at all). This jacket actually has snap buttons around the wrist. And last but not least my favorite! The Artemis jacket, this one is suction, but it has this V at the writs so it is a stretchy material. This makes it so it still suctions to my arm nicely, but it doesn’t suffocate. It makes it so much easier to have on a watch but still keeps it protected over your wrist. I think that GWG should have this style of the wrist on every jacket personally.
Next, let’s talk about the inside jacket. When it comes to the Artemis it has a sheepskin-like material that helps keep you warm. This is the only jacket that has this texture on the inside, but you will also find it on the Artemis softshell vest. The rain jacket is much thinner, so you can wear the rain jacket over the Artemis jacket quite easily if you need some extra rain protection, which is why I think they made the rain jacket so thin. This makes it easier to wear during any season, but that’s not what we are here to talk about. Back to the Artemis jacket. I got the size XL, thinking maybe I would need an extra layer. But it works great even though I usually order a size L. I’ve noticed, if it’s snowing or high winds and I just need a pinch more warmth, I usually always have the Artemis softshell vest with me also, so I will put that on underneath the jacket. I only have done this when I should have grabbed my Artemis snow jacket. And just for reference, I am someone who is 8 out 10 times cold. But this jacket is great for September through December hunting. (well not September if you are still in the 70-90 degrees like we usually are in California lol.
This is my absolute favorite out of all the girls with guns jackets. And I highly recommend getting this one if you don’t have it already. If you are just starting out with GWG and you are not sure which jacket to get first I would go with this one 100%.
